Dr. Alex Payette
Founder and CEO
With a PhD from the University of Ottawa in Canada’s capital, Dr. Payette has extensive policy advisory and academic experience on the topic of China. In addition to his vast compendium of published articles in peer-reviewed journals, he also has spent a large portion of his career conducting field work in the People’s Republic. Some of his publications can be found on databases such as Questia, Cambridge University Press, Cairn, Koreascience, and Springerlink, to name but a few.
Dr. Payette is regularly consulted by journalists covering the country and publishes policy papers for journals maintained by governments and independent think tanks.
Dr. Payette is a postdoctoral fellow with the University of Toronto, a lecturer at the University of Ottawa's School of Political Studies, an Adjunct faculty at the Political Science department of the Glendon College (York University), and is the recipient of multiple highly competitive funds issued by the Canadian government, such as the Insight Development Grant (Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada - SSHRC), the Banting Fellowship, the SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellowship, and the Fonds de Recherche Société et Culture. Dr. Payette concurrently supervises the research of graduate students.

Regional Director - Western Europe
After a short stint in public affairs and lobbying, Federico Brembati joined Cercius Group in 2019 as Regional Director for Western Europe.
He holds a dual MSc in International Affairs from Peking University and the London School of Economics and his main research focuses on Chinese OFDI in the EU and Latin America.
A former COLMEX visiting researcher, in 2017 he was invited to the Italian Chamber of Deputies to present his research on the Belt and Road Initiative.
Business Development Manager - Western Europe
Alessandro Zadro is Program Manager at the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies in Italy. Since April 2020, he has been Business Development Manager for Western Europe at Cercius Group.
Alessandro spent five years between Beijing and Chongqing where, apart from developing a better understanding of Chinese society and the business environment, he successfully delivered, alongside a team from Sant’Anna, a two-year feasibility study for the launch of a Sino-Italian Innovation Park in Southwest China.
He holds an MA in Chinese Studies from SOAS and an MA in International Relations from Peking University. His main interests are in Chinese OFDI the EU and Chinese contemporary society, with a focus on internal migration.
